The first exhibition of 12 Campbell will be works gathered around the theme Persistence. Art fulfills a fundamental human need for self-expression, communication, and emotional connection across cultures and generations. Today persistence in art is most vital because it bridges deep social divides. It gives people a safe space to share diverse stories, process collective challenges, and find joy and connection.

The work in this exhibition will be curated from local and international artists. But a keystone of this exhibition, and we are beyond excited to have this as a major component, will be the extraordinary work by Robert Overby, last shown in New York at Andrew Kreps Gallery in 2015, a set of R.R.O.S.E. manipulated lithographs.

Robert Overby: Persistence. Repeated explores the themes of referencing, copying and repetition in the artist’s work, and the way in which certain operations rooted in Overby’s profession, graphic design, were expressed on a formal and conceptual level throughout his practice. Overby was an immensely prolific artist in terms of formal results, but consistent from a thematic standpoint. He enacted a varied and eclectic ensemble of styles and techniques, while demonstrating an obstinate resistance against the very concept of “style.” Overby demonstrated great interest in the subject of time and the fragility of human existence in works that explore materials, images, and architecture in their impermanence.

Robert Overby and Linda Burnham were married partners until his death in 1993.
