The Flat File Project

The Flat File Project houses portfolios of original works on paper open to the buying public. Inspired by the “Flat Files” of Pierogi Gallery in New York, the goal is access and participation, on the part of both artists and viewers.

By making art available to a wider public, where you can look at something in a more direct way than through plexiglas at a museum or curated on a wall, the art buying process becomes democratized. Something the community can dip into with ease. The barrier of inaccessibility is broken down and the art viewing process demystified where artwork can be viewed at one’s own pace, and at one’s own preference, browsing through portfolios organized by media, type and artist.

This rare and privileged access to a large and eclectic group of drawings, paintings, photos and other forms of work on paper, provides a direct physical experience with the work, allowing the viewer to engage with the tactile nature of each piece, while providing a venue for artists to have their work seen without the costs of framing or the distancing of formal display.
